昨年の９月に播種され、今年の夏に収穫される予定とのこと。これは、彼らにとって初めてのなたね栽培になります。

というのも、この地域では、長い間ほとんどなたねを栽培していませんでした。

オンタリオ州でほとんどなたねが栽培されない理由は、高温によりしばしば品質が低下するためです。

最近の夏はいくらか涼しくなり、また、生産農家は、近年の穀物価格の低迷から、なにか別の作物の栽培を模索していることから、再びなたねの栽培に関心が集まっています。

The photo shows a canola field in Ontario, Canada.

The grower planted canola in last September and will harvest this summer.

This is the first year they tried planting canola, and there has been very little canola in this area for a number of years.

One reason there has not been much canola in this area is that excessive heat sometimes lowers the quality.

Given that we have had some cooler summers, and that people are looking for something different to grow with recent lower crop prices, they may see some interest in it again.
